3D Rhinoplasty

FACTS ABOUT NOSE SURGERY

  • Patients willing to have a nose surgery almost always experience a frustration & stress about their appearance after the surgery.
  • To be successful, nose surgery needs to be well planned and measured by the plastic surgeon.
  • Facial measurements provide a quantitative assessment pre-operatively and a recorded for later reference.
  • Measurements are in the form of length & angles, for which each defines the relationship of the nose with the face as well as the sub-structural components of the nose with each other.

WHAT IS 3D VIRTUAL SURGICAL PLANNING FOR NOSE SURGERY?

By using 3D facial scanning technology, it is possible to create an accurate 3D representation of the patient’s face. It then allows the plastic surgeon to do a “virtual rhinoplasty’, using his or her own knowledge. This will generate measurements, so which allows them to make patient specific tools to use during the actual surgery. Thus, surgical planning becomes much more accurate and better matched to the needs of the patient. These measurements are then entered into the 3D software. Subsequently, based on these measurements, patient-specific single-use instruments are manufactured using 3D printers and simultaneously used as a measuring instrument during the actual surgery.
